General Liability

York maintains dozens of adjusting teams focused only on bringing clients' general liability claims to the most successful and least expensive resolution. We have found that familiarity with an account, program or industry leads to a better outcome, so we assign certain liability accounts to specific teams, allowing our adjusters to develop expertise and build strong relationships with our clients.

Expert staff: Our staff include seasoned claim specialists, attorneys, engineers, doctors and former law enforcement professionals. Our staff not only develop technical expertise in handling liability claims for particular industries and programs, they also display exceptional skill in negotiation and client relations – qualities that are particularly important in liability claims.

Expense management: York understands that it is our clients' funds we are charged with protecting and we take every measure possible to reduce clients' ultimate indemnity costs. Our adjusters have developed outstanding judgment about when and whether it is more advantageous to settle, mediate or litigate claims, and when an investment in experts or investigation will ultimately pay off with lower indemnity payments.

Optimum use of technology: York's RMIS, Claims Connect™, is recognized industry-wide for its ease of use, functionality and ability to be easily customized.

"No surprise" reserving: York knows that the last thing clients want from their claims-handling partner is an unwelcome surprise. That's why we promote a policy of no surprise reserving and keep in close communication with our clients. This policy results in virtually all claims being closed within one percent of the reserve amount posted months prior to the close of the claim.

Fraud and recovery flagging: Our adjusters have been trained to evaluate each claim for possible fraud and subrogation potential and to refer those claims to our investigations partner or our in-house subrogation and recovery units.
